H.E. Dr. Hassan Janabi
Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Iraq to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization

  • Dr. Hassan Janabi is representing the Republic of Iraq as an Ambassador to various Rome-based UN agencies since 2008. After obtaining post-graduate certificates from the University of Warsaw and the University of Technology in Sydney, he worked for the Sydney Catchment Authority. In 2003, he took up the position of an Advisor for the Ministry of Irrigation and oversaw US-funded water und public service projects. He has long-running experience as a Hydrologist.

Dr. Jens Liebe
Program Officer for the UN-Water Decade Programme on Capacity Development

  • Dr. Liebe holds a Ph.D. in Biological and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University with a focus on water resources and a M.Sc. in Geography from the University of Bonn, for which he was awarded the Hans-Hartwig Ruthenberg award. He worked for a number of institutions, including the Center for Development at the University of Bonn and the GTZ (now GIZ) before joining the UNW-DPC as the Program Officer for Water Resources Management.

Bernd Voß
Member of the European Committee, Spokesperson for Agricultural Issues and European Policy, Member of the Schleswig Holstein Parliament

  • Mr. Bernd Voß is a Member of the Schleswig-Holstein Regional Parliament and the Spokesperson for European, Agrarian and Consumer Protection Policy. He has been politically active since 1973, when he joined a citizen’s initiative against the Brokdorf nuclear power plant. He is a founding member of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen (Green Party) and was a member of the Economic and Social Commission of the European Union from 2005 to 2010. Mr. Voß is a member of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference and the Parliamentary Forum for the Southern Baltic.

Ahmed El Bouari
Director of the Planning Division for Irrigation and Rural Areas, Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries, Morocco

  • Mr. El Bouari is a rural engineer. He is the division chief at the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries. He is in charge of hydro-agricultural planning and land planning and soil enhancement amongst other things.
