Run Digital: Digitalization in Africa | June 26th, 2019

In light of today’s major problems such as climate change, population growth, and poverty, Africa faces enormous challenges. At the same time, this continent, which hosts many of the world’s fastest-growing economies, harbors enormous potential. Can digital transformation be the key to capturing it? Can digitalization open up new avenues for strengthening the economies of African countries and integrate them fairly in global value chains?

We’d like to discuss these questions together with the participants and cordially invite you to attend our event on June 26, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 5:45 p.m.) at Data Space by SAP (Rosenthaler Straße 38, Berlin – courtyard). Dr. Gerd Müller MdB German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, will open the evening with a keynote speech.

Following this, Michael Kleinemeier, member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, will describe SAP’s activities in Africa. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications of the Republic of Ghana, will share her experiences with digitalization and the opportunities it presents for her country. The economist James Shikwati will provide an insight into how Africa's economic development can be driven by innovation.

The speakers will then be available to answer questions of the attendees in a panel discussion. We are pleased to announce that Geraldine de Bastion will serve as our moderator.

During the subsequent flying dinner, we will have the opportunity to discuss the presented solution approaches and we are looking forward to a lively interchange.  If you want to attend to the event, please let us now by sending an email at event@rundigital-sap.com. The event will be held in English.
